Studio Heim
Kate Allamby purchased her Victorian property in 2022 after it had been uninhabited for 15 years. Despite its state of total disrepair, with holes in the ceilings and floors and damp throughout the walls, she immediately recognised its potential as her home and design studio, seeing it as the perfect opportunity to create a place that truly reflected her vision.
“The ground floor layout was reconfigured to open up the hallway and create a more inviting flow through to the new extension, marked by an open archway,” says Kate Allamby, Founder and Design Director of Studio Heim.
“The two rooms flanking the hallway—the living room and Studio Heim’s design studio—feature glass doors that allow natural light to travel through the space, keeping the interiors bright and open while still offering the option to close rooms off for a cosier atmosphere.”
Upstairs, a full primary suite was created as part of the extension, incorporating a walk-through wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom. The primary ensuite features ABI Interiors’ brushed brass fixtures, with gloss white wall tiles and a microcement floor, striking a balance between modern and timeless design.
“Across the property, we used ABI Interiors for all of our bathroom and utility room fixtures, opting for a mix of brushed brass and stainless steel fittings,” continues Kate. “The home now includes a primary ensuite, a family bathroom, a downstairs WC, and a utility room — complete with a rather gorgeous dog shower.”
