The Spirit of Omotenashi: ABI Interiors Comes to Clerkenwell

The Japanese concept omotenashi is a philosophy of hospitality rooted in anticipation: knowing what a guest needs before they think to ask. And it is the spirit that ABI Interiors is bringing to London this May, as we open our newest showroom in the heart of Clerkenwell.

The opening coincides with Clerkenwell Design Week 2026, which is the 15th edition of the UK's most celebrated design festival, running from 19th to 21st May. It draws architects, interior designers, and creative thinkers from across the world to EC1 for three days of installations, product launches, and industry exchange. For ABI Interiors, it is the perfect moment to introduce London's design community to a new permanent home. 

The Clerkenwell Showroom marks a deliberate step forward for ABI Interiors in the UK. Founded in Australia in 2016 around a vision for thoughtfully designed fixtures, the brand has grown from its Gold Coast origins to showrooms across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. The Clerkenwell Showroom, designed in collaboration with renowned London architecture and interior design practice Conran and Partners, represents a considered evolution. Rather than a traditional product showroom, the space is conceived as a genuine home for the brand, where architects, designers, and specifiers can engage with our products.

Goswell Road sits at the northern edge of Clerkenwell, close to where many of the area's most compelling CDW activations unfold. For the design community already navigating the festival's rich programme, the showroom is a natural destination: a place to slow down, explore our collections, and engage directly with the team behind the brand.

On Tuesday, 19 May, ABI Interiors invites you to our Open Home lunch, built around the principles of omotenashi. Guests will explore the new showroom at their own pace while Nobu chefs prepare curated canapés live.

For ABI Interiors, omotenashi is not an adopted concept but an inherited one, and the partnership with Nobu reflects that. The result is an experience that is warm and generous without being performative: the kind of hospitality that makes a space feel, immediately, like somewhere worth spending time.
