Sussex Farm by Rebecca Winter Design Studio

Built just twenty-five years ago but in need of a complete rethink, Sussex Farm presented Rebecca Winter Design Studio with a clear brief: create a contemporary family home that feels rooted in tradition and is durable, considered, and designed to age as gracefully as the property itself.

The project is a full renovation of a grand family home, thoughtfully reimagined to honour its heritage while adapting it for contemporary living. Central to the brief was the preservation of the home’s original features; their character and craftsmanship were kept firmly at the forefront of the design rather than erased in favour of something newer. The result is an interior that feels layered with history, creating the impression that the home has evolved naturally over time.

With a rich material palette of blended textures running throughout, the design strikes a careful balance between the warmth of a traditional country house and the restraint of contemporary living. Each space was developed as a fully bespoke scheme, with fixtures and fittings selected not only for their quality and longevity, but for the sense of ease they bring to everyday living, helping create an interior that feels cohesive, enduring, and quietly timeless.

Brushed brass has been woven throughout the project as a unifying finish; present across tapware, hardware, and fittings in a warm tone that complements the home’s original features without competing with them.
