Lisa Allen is the beautiful creator of @lueyyyyylifestyle on Instagram, where she shares updates on all things home.
Her keen eye for design and astute ability to do that on a budget makes her the perfect powerhouse for Christmas decorating.
She generously let us roam her magical home and ask about styling for the holidays.
Q1. IS YOUR DECORATING PLAN GENERALLY WELL-THOUGHT-OUT OR MORE INTUITED?
Normally I am such a planner, but I have been finding it definitely more intuitive. I will see something that inspires me and just roll with it. Then it just falls into place from there.
Q2. WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR CHRISTMAS STYLING THIS YEAR?
I’m just trying to keep it really minimal. I wanted to try something a bit different, so my sister sent me some inspiration from Jasmine Dowling, and that was my main go-to. When decorating the tree, I just started putting random dried flowers, and there was a splash of pink in there so I just sort of went with the pink.
Q3. WHERE DO YOU SOURCE YOUR DECORATIONS?
So most of the decorating items are Kmart or Target and a few pieces from Spotlight. Then there are a few hero pieces, like the cutlery I got from Myer, and the glassware I got from Gathered store on Instagram. And I get all my dried flowers from Gather store in Currumbin.
Q4. WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR CHRISTMAS?
We are going to do Christmas breakfast here with all the family who is heading up from Sydney. Then we will head up to Mum’s for a late Christmas lunch.
Q5. DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR PEOPLE STYLING THEIR HOME FOR CHRISTMAS?
It doesn’t need to be expensive. Have a look around your home and garden for inspiration, adding some fresh greenery from trees/plants in the garden always creates such a nice Christmas feeling.
Also, Target, Spotlight and Kmart we’re my go-to this year, lots of great affordable items.
The white tapware throughout Lisa’s home creates the perfect launchpad to decorate from. It’s the best blank canvas to host any celebratory themes you decide to have over time.
Lisa’s home is such a stunning depiction of Christmas, and that’s because underneath the glorious garlands and tremendous trifles, the hands that put them there are filled with love.
At its core, Christmas is about delving into your heart and sharing it with those who have helped build different pieces over time.
Whatever home means to you; a place, person, moment, or perhaps a bouquet of all the above – treat the decoration of these as an offering.
An offering that transcends physical beauty and hangs close to the nature of your heart.
Merry Christmas!
