Create the Ultimate Easter Table Setting With Nadia Harrison

Modern living has created some changes, but we predict that the sounds of Easter 2023 will be the same as ever. The high-pitched shrill of eager children scouring the house and yard, procuring their investigative skills to uncover the one thing we collectively praise — chocolate.  But decadence isn’t just reserved for the young! From the food to the decor, create an Easter table setting so the joy can be shared all weekend long.  We’ve asked Nadia Harrison from @_thechroniclesofnadia_ for her styling expertise so that you can design a festive Easter tablescape in your home.

Beginning any project can be tricky. To make it simple, Nadia suggests starting your Easter table setting at the centre.

“I always try and get the centrepiece on the table and then slowly work around the centrepiece with everything else [that] we’re going to have on the table.”

When it comes to centrepiece decor, remodelling old items is a creative and budget-friendly idea. Take a look through some materials that have been collecting dust in storage, and see if they could be useful. Nadia saw the potential in some unused travertine tiles. She smashed them and repurposed the broken pieces for the centrepiece.

“I have just stacked it on top of each other to be able to create that layer on the table when I’m adding pieces to it.”

It creates an elegant Easter centrepiece to then decorate with baked goods and chocolate.

Use your favourite placemats to mark where your guests will be eating. Think of them as mini rugs for your table setting. They are styling pieces that reflect an article of your personality while creating shapes and adding dimension. Not only that, Nadia advises that placemats are a launchpad to place your Easter table decor around.

“Pop the placemats around the table. And then we can work from there and add extra bits and pieces in.”

Put your cutlery down on each placemat, and see how your vision is coming together!

Nadia has a great approach when it comes to creating decor for your Easter tablescape. It’s affordable, uncomplicated, and fun enough that your kids will probably want to help you with it too. All you need is PVC pipes and clay.

“I cut it [PVC pipes] to different lengths, and then I covered it with clay and let it dry.”

Once dry, you could paint them a colour to suit your Easter table colour scheme. Add flowers, and you’re done!

Indulge in a moment of rest. Step back from your table setting and take stock of how it’s looking. Make any changes to the placement or style of your Easter decor that you see fit. If you feel happy with your creation so far, you may continue!

A touch of glassware to your Easter table decor setting brings elegance and sophistication. Nadia likes sourcing hers from second-hand stores, as it’s easier to find ornate, unique pieces at a great price.

Alternatively, you could make your own pieces! Nadia found her Easter table decor items either from op-shops or made them herself. And, of course, Easter is never complete without a selection of delicious treats to indulge in over the long weekend.
